Happy Holidays!

I am not only late getting my blog entry up, but also my Christmas cards.  It's funny how being unemployed affected me so; normally I am uber-organized and efficient.  During the days of unemployment, job hunting was just about all I could manage.  Now I'm just trying to enjoy the final days of 2007 while our 2008 is looking mighty bright!

So, after that introduction, HAPPY HOLIDAYS!  Whatever it is you celebrate, I hope you are enjoying yourselves with your family and friends.  For me, it's Merry Christmas!!!

I have had a wonderful December so far.  I started my new job (ahem, my new CAREER) and I am really excited about it.  It seems like it will be all of the things I loved about the last one, with none of the negatives.  I am really feeling optimistic about this career move and excited to get rolling!  I also got to celebrate Christmas with my mom and ALL of my siblings.  This was very special for me.  I definitely do not get to see my family as much as I would like, and it was especially great to have everyone in our house.  I got to cook for them and we went visiting our old neighborhood(s) and other memorable locales.  Sometimes there is nothing that can make you appreciate your current life more than visiting where you started.  Best of all, my mom got to visit with two of her best friends, and that was really great for everyone.  My brother's girlfriend came along, and she had never been to our wonderful city, so it was fun to show off all the landmarks.  I am always more than proud to show off the city!  It was sad to see them go, but at least we had a fantastic time, and they got back home safely.

The kids have been having fun, too.  They have enjoyed gift giving and opening, and it's always fun to watch.  We still have some friends and family to get together with before all is said and done, and it's always great to spend time with our loved ones.

I also enjoyed my annual baking expedition, and was more than excited to share it with neighbors and friends.  I'm telling you, if there is one thing I love to do, it's cook!  Be it normal food or baked goods, I get so much joy out of cooking for people.  I went through 4 pounds of butter, 2 dozen eggs, 6 pounds of apples, 2 pounds of pecans, and lost count how much flour, sugar (granulated, powdered, brown) and chocolate chips.  Everything from scratch over here.  If I'm going to cook, I am going to do it right!  ;-)

So again, I hope you are enjoying the last of 2007 and all is well in your world.  May your 2008 start off right!
