In Limbo

There are some changes going on in my life again, and they have my mind working overtime.  The main reason is because I am not exactly how things will shake out when it's all said and done, so I'm stuck in limbo.  That's not a comfortable place to be.  I imagine how things could work out for the better, and then of course I see the worst possible scenario as well.  Here's a good anecdote to sum it how I feel...you may have seen it before, and it's a good reminder in any case:

Late one evening, a salesman drove his car through the countryside after a day of selling.  Suddenly the rear tire went flat.  Rummaging through the trunk, he found no jack to lift the automobile.    "Well," says he, "I'll walk to the nearest farmhouse and borrow a jack from a farmer."  Soon it was dark, but he spotted a light in a farmhouse off the road.

Turning toward the farmhouse he thought to himself, "Since I'm a stranger to the farmer, he'll probably want to charge me for using the jack, but that's ok."   As he walked toward the light he reasoned to himself, "That farmer will probably want to charge me as much as five dollars for using his jack, but that's ok."

Continuing to walk the dusty road toward the light he thought, "That farmer may be the type to take advantage of a salesman and want as much as ten dollars to use his jack, but I'll have to pay it or spend the night on the road."

He was getting thirsty as he walked along and suddenly the light in the farmhouse went out.  He kicked at the dusty road and thought, "Now the farmer's gone to bed, and I'll have to wake him up and he'll be mad.  I'll have to get him out of bed and he'll probably want to charge me twenty dollars for using his lousy jack!"

He opened the gate to the farmer's yard, stepped through and muttered to himself, "He'll be mad and maybe a stingy so-and-so and might want to charge me as much as fifty dollars for using his rotten old jack and that's too damn much to pay for using a man's jack."

The salesman knocked on the front door, and a few seconds later the farmer stuck his head out a window above and asked, "What can I do for you?"

"You can take your damned old jack and go to hell with it!" shouted the salesman.

So I think the moral of the story is pretty clear, and I'm trying to apply this to my own situation at hand.  But it's hard, people, it's hard.  I recently wrote the entry on how in balance my life was and now this is threatening the scales.  There's not much for me to do but wait and see.  That's not exactly my strong point.  I'm a do-er, not a sit-and-wait-er!

In other news?  It's the kids' spring break this week.  Some spring.  I went to the Cubs home opener on Monday and it snowed.  Ironically, the last home opener I attended, also snowed.  Maybe it's me?  I had fun with my friend Hillary in spite of the weather.  Yesterday we did get out to the zoo even though it was a touch chilly.  Today however, it's SNOWING.  Yes, the white stuff.  Even though we hit almost 80 a couple of weeks back, yep, snow again.  Not surprising, just ironic that it's Spring break.

Ok, off I go to be in limbo again...in the snow...
